I cant for the life of me get my Gmail to correctly sync with my Outlook account. I keep getting sync errors in Outlook, or Outlook begins creating new labels in my Gmail account.

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 12:11 PM PDT

First things first, I'm trying to setup Outlook on my new desktop in Windows 10. I've turned off 2-factor authentication for my Gmail temporarily to set this up.

So I haven't had any luck with fixing this over the last few hours. I'm trying to sync my Gmail account with Outlook and keep running into two erroneous scenarios.

I believe I have set everything up correctly, and yet I keep getting "Error synchronizing folder [8004DF03-0-0-560]".

Then, whenever I try to use the popular "change root folder path to "Inbox"", I stop getting the synchronization error messages, but Outlook then begins creating labels in my Gmail account as follows:

  • INBOX/Deleted Items
  • INBOX/Sent Items
  • INBOX/Junk Email
  • INBOX/Drafts

These are in addition to my actual standard Gmail folders (Inbox, Starred, Important, Sent Mail, Drafts etc).

Has anyone else ever had a similar issue and know a solution?

My Windows laptop sometimes cannot find my wifi network

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 11:43 AM PDT

Every other device in my house has no issues.

Sometimes it finds but doesn't connect to it. This is so frustrating! The wired connection works. It's only started happened in the last few weeks and I've had this laptop for a few years now.

I uninstalled the wireless drivers but that's not done anything to help.

Taskbar icons disappear when I restart explorer

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 09:11 AM PDT

When I end the explorer process and restart it (not restarting the computer), most of my taskbar icons (the little ones on the right close to the date/time) disappear and are simply gone (but the programs are still running). For example Dropbox and my Fireface Settings dialog are affected by this.

Restarting them seems to bring them back, but is there any way to get them back without restarting the software in question?

Is it possible to boot from a folder in a drive?

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 09:53 AM PDT

So I just installed Windows 7, updated everything including drivers and installed my programs. It actually took me some time and I do format my pc quite a lot. I thought about burning this state of my OS to an ISO. I created a backup using Windows tool on my second drive. The problem is, how can I create the folder on the second drive bootable, and show it up on my BIOS's boot screen? The file is 80 GB+ and I can't burn it to a USB.

Can someone help me with my laptop? Suspicious files, performance issues.. just a few questions about security, legitimacy of files, & to understand more.

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 12:23 AM PDT

Ill type in some stuff I found in About my computer since I have no idea what is good to put.

Edition: Windows 10 Version: 1703 OS build: 15063.909 Processor: AMD A6-7310 APU with Raekwon R4 Graphics 2.00 GHz Installed RAM: 4.00 (3.47 usable) System type: 64-bit operating system x64 based processor

Anyone willing to PM me to answer some questions? Malware/virus questions (since I thought something was, and it was not once) File types, what should be where & legitimate General questions about settings etc maybe

Probably going on for several months. When I first noticed this, I just thought it was something happening with my ISP since I recently had to get some "gateway" bullshit from them. (Buying my own equipment soon) and that slowed things down quite a bit. It was a lot of internet traffic.

Then I notice a duplicate C drive with the same file names except theyre full with wild names with .DLL and .EXE, logs, & LOTS OF STUFF. I mean a lot. Theres Users that Im not familiar with. None are really people "names" They have their own settings and I cant control them. They can control me. Like just now they took off indexing while Im in safe mode so I couldnt search anymore.

I got so mad once I deleted a ton of their temp files and my game they downloaded. I have no idea why because I know how stupid that is. Well they said no more computer for me.

I called it quits for a few weeks on the laptop. When I gave it a try, things seemed more normal. I tried a reboot with a disk, and Im not sure if that went well or not, because they came back, and my files are crazy looking.. the names, the contents. Theres something called Python in one of the folders, and I heard that somewhere, think it might be bad.

I can upload some screen shots if anyone wants to see it, maybe a visual would be better.

Or maybe its just a strange Microsoft update.

** sorry for the format, mobile **

Getting errors connecting my bluetooth headphones to my Dell XPS 13 running Windows 10

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 10:52 AM PDT

So up until now my bluetooth headphones have been working fine. They were even capable of connecting to both my cell and my laptop and getting feedback from both! But recently my bluetooth completely disappeared (my computer even claimed, until I restarted it, that I didn't have bluetooth period). After a restart things returned to normal but whenever I try to connect my headphones (which still say paired) it says "That didn't work, make sure your device is connected and in range."

Soooooooo idk fam? Any assistance y'all can offer would be appreciated.

Downloads Defaulting to archive-7e-312.zip

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 06:47 AM PDT

Hi,

It seems that certain download links via Google Chrome seem to get hijacked on my Windows PC and instead default to download something called archive-7e-312.zip - which looks to be a virus of some sorts.

This happens in simple cases such as trying to download an image attachment from gmail for example.

Failed Attempts to resolve: - Restored/ Clean installed windows - Ran Malwarebytes which finds the following TrojanDNSChanger - https://imgur.com/PWvEOuW

I'm assuming this is the culprit (unsure), but every time i remove it with Malwarebyted and restart Widnows, the scan picks it up again.

Any advice on dealing with this would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Powerpoint presenter view in Windows 10

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 11:47 AM PDT

I work for a university that uses Crestron products to display content in our classrooms. Previously I was able to treat the lectern monitor and image from the projector as separate displays to use Presenter mode on the monitor but full screen on the projected image. In the past few months, I've lost that ability. It's as if the content must be exactly mirrored so if I select presenter mode for the lectern monitor, it too is displayed on the projected image.

Nothing has changed on the Crestron side of things (cabling, programming, etc) but it seems as though I'm missing something in Windows settings..

MyApps Tiles Customization

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 07:10 AM PDT

Hello everyone,

There is a portal on Azure or Office, MyApps, https://myapps.microsoft.com/

there a plenty applications on it, and you can see every services you have with your Office 365 subscription.

Then I have a question, I want to customize it, to remove some tiles like Planner, To-Do, Sway, Delve...

I know we can do it by removing the services on the license plan, like desactivate Sway. However, for a a lot of users, I know I can use powershell, but is there another way to customize the MyApps Portal, for removing or add some tiles ?

Thank you !

Windows 10 update breaking SLI

Posted: 12 Mar 2018 02:14 AM PDT

Anytime I update past 1703, my SLI breaks. I start getting "error code 12" on my second video card. I've only been able to determine that the issue is caused by conflicting drivers, as microsoft started including nvidia drivers as part of it's update. This is starting to become a large issue, because the last 2 days windows has been forcing me to update to a new version, despite having the windows update service disabled (it re-enabled itself).

edit:
I've tried a variety of things to resolve the issue as well. uninstalling drivers/devices, running with only a sinlge card/no SLI bridge (both of which work fine), and rolling back is the only thing that resolves the issue. I can post up specs/more details if anyone needs anything in specific.
